Ganesh is the Hindu deity of good luck and good fortune and the remover of obstacles. His large head represents thought. He has a small mouth and large ears to represent the idea of listening more then speaking and his small eyes represent concentration. His belly is big to peacefully digest all the good and bad in life. He has two tusks, one whole to hold onto the good and one broken to release the bad. In his left hand he holds a rope to pull you closer to your goals. In his right hand he holds an axe to sever attachment. The little mouse at his side is Mooshak which is Ganesh mount. Mooshak represents intellect over ego and desire. The idea is the restless human mind is like a rodent, greedy, unpredictable land destructive, however, when it is tamed with divine wisdom it becomes useful. Ganesh sitting on a lotus symbolizes the perfect balance between spiritual awakening and worldly success. It represents the importance of both spiritual enlightenment and success in life.
