This particular crowned buddha is extremely powerful in its symbolism. The crown Buddha wears represents Buddha’s triumphant return to earth from heaven. The two mudras he is displaying are karana mudras. They are used to ward off evil, dispel negativity and remove obstacles. When the karana mudra is preformed with dorjes (A ritualistic tool), the intent intensifies. While the karana mudra itself acts as passive protection, with the dorjes in hand it becomes a weapon to cut though ignorance, materialism and negative emotions. It further acts as a shield from negative energy, fear and anxiety.
Dorje’s:
The dorje is a ritualistic tool used in Buddhism. The word “dorje” translates to “diamond” or “lord of stone” symbolizing a tool that cuts though illusions. It symbolizes firm spiritual power and indestructible consciousness. It represents the union of wisdom and compassion.
About Mudras:
Mudras are specific representative body positions, hand and/or finger gestures sometimes referred to as “seals” or “marks” and are highly symbolic.
